Two Hearts, One Journey: A Suitcase Full of Dreams

If my younger self could see me now, I wonder if she’d recognize the person I’ve become.

I think back to the days when I would dream of faraway places, imagining what it would be like to step beyond the world I knew. I didn’t have the full picture then—I just had a heart full of hope and a mind that believed anything was possible.

I used to stare at airplanes in the sky, wondering where they were going, who was on them, and what stories they carried. I dreamed of one day being on one of those planes, looking down at the world, ready to embrace the unknown. But back then, it was just a dream—a distant idea that felt too big for the small town I grew up in and the simple life I had known.

And yet, after years of wondering, here I am with my life partner. Thousands of miles away from home, carrying nothing but a suitcase full of dreams, the love we share, and the faith that led us here.

Some days are filled with excitement—new places to explore, new people to meet, new opportunities unfolding before our eyes. But there are also days when the weight of homesickness settles deep when the distance from home feels unbearable, and when doubts whisper that maybe this journey is too hard. And yet, in those moments, we hold on. We hold on to each other. We hold on to the dreams that brought us here. We hold on to the quiet faith that reminds us we are not alone.

Because this journey was never just about chasing success or proving something to the world. It was about growth, about stepping out in faith, about trusting that God has a plan far greater than we could ever imagine. Every challenge, every triumph, every tear, and every prayer is shaping us into the people we are meant to be.

If our younger selves could see us now, I think they’d be proud—not just because we made it here, but because we are living the dream they once held so tightly in their heart. And even on the hardest days, I know we are walking in answered prayers.

This is just the beginning. There are still dreams to chase, lessons to learn, and moments to cherish. Through every challenge and every triumph, we hold on to love, faith, and the belief that our journey has a purpose far greater than we can see.
